Colette Oswald's interest in photography began at age 8 when she received her first camera, a black & white Polaroid^™.

Colette was the one running around the neighborhood with the camera lining everyone up for impromptu mug shots, street scenes, sporting events, parties, and holiday gatherings.

She went on to pursue this interest throughout studies at Haddonfield High School, and simultaneously, became involved in filmmaking. This lead Colette to study at Stockton State College, Temple University, and to graduate from New York University with a B.F.A. in fine arts in 1983.

After several years of freelance work with models, actors and musicians in New York City, Colette returned to her home town of Haddonfield, New Jersey to establish Colette Oswald Photography studios.
